Parent/ Guardians’ Code of Conduct
At Holywell Swimming Club, we are committed to fostering a positive, respectful, and supportive environment for all athletes. Parents, guardians, and spectators play a crucial role in shaping young swimmers’ experiences, both in and out of the pool. This Code of Conduct outlines the expectations for behavior to ensure that all participants, coaches, and officials feel valued, respected, and encouraged to perform at their best. By following these guidelines, you contribute to a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for everyone involved.
To maximize the benefits of training and maintain a supportive, respectful environment, parent/s or guardians’ of a swimmers should follow these detailed guidelines:
Expectations for Parent/Guardians'
As a parent or guardian of a swimmer participating in any Club activity or event, you are expected to uphold the following standards of conduct:
Remember that your child participates in sports for their own enjoyment, not yours.
Focus on their effort and performance rather than the outcome of the competition.
Encourage your child to follow the rules and always do their best.
Inform the coach in advance if your child needs to leave a session early and specify who will be collecting them.
Use appropriate language at all times within the club environment.
Ensure your child’s nutritional needs are met and follow guidance provided by the coach or nutritionist.
Never ridicule or yell at your child—or any other child—for making a mistake or losing a competition.
Show appreciation for all athletes' skill and effort, including those on opposing teams.
Support and encourage your child and their teammates.
Demonstrate responsibility, especially around minors, as your words and actions set an example.
Refrain from entering the poolside unless requested by the coach or in an emergency. If you need to speak with the coach, consult the club administrator to arrange a meeting.
Respect officials’ decisions and teach your child to do the same.
Never physically or verbally abuse or harass anyone involved in the sport, including swimmers, coaches, and officials.
Be a positive role model.
Most importantly, help your child enjoy the sport and reach their full potential.
