The Holywell team swam at the Swim Wales North Regional Racing Series meet that was held at the Lifestyle Aquatic Centre in Liverpool on the 7th, 8th & 9th February 2025.
Holywell arrived in Liverpool for the first session of the weekend on the 7th February 2025 on the Friday night. Friday’s session is a mix of distance swim of 1500m Free and 50m Sprints.
The team had a great start on the Friday evening starting with racing starting at 6.20pm and ending around 8pm followed by a 1 hour journey home.
The team were up for 6:30am and back at the pool for 8:00am for the 2nd session on day 2, another great day for the team winning multiple medals in all age groups and setting lots of PBs. The last session on day 2 ended at 5:30pm, after a long 11.5 hour day the team had a one hour journey home.
Back up in the morning for the 1 Hour journey back to Liverpool for day 3. The team arrived at 7:30am for stretching and warm ups started at 8:00am.
The team looked great all weekend. The swimmers had been honing their race processes in preparation for the meet, stretching, warm-ups, racing strategies and team talks before racing, the coaches couldn’t have asked any more of every swimmer and they didn’t disappoint.
Day 2 and 3 the meet held relays – Holywell, like last year, did amazingly well. See results below.
To put the team’s performance into perspective and to show how Holywell punched above their weight over the weekend, see some statistics below.
Some tough swimming for Holywell, a small market town with a population of around 8,000 who were up against some strong teams, when we take into account the catchment population of each club, it shows how well the Holywell team does. The overall position list and score of each club from the weekend is below, scoring similar to performance clubs who swim out of multiple pools is credit to the Holywell swim team, and the whole club.
